Tradmarks of Shugart Associates. The stylized "SA" logo was first used in commerce on July 20, 1973 and became a registered trademark on December 9, 1975. (Registration Number 1027032.) The "SA" trademark was cancelled on May 4, 1982. The word mark "MINIFLOPPY" was first use in commerce on August 27, 1976 and became a registered trademark on June 21, 1977. (Registration Number 1068047.) The "MINIFLOPPY" trademark was cancelled on November 15, 1983.
Note that it may still be copyrighted in jurisdictions that do not apply the rule of the shorter term for US works (depending on the date of the author's death), such as Canada (50 p.m.a.), Mainland China (50 p.m.a., not Hong Kong or Macao), Germany (70 p.m.a.), Mexico (100 p.m.a.), Switzerland (70 p.m.a.), and other countries with individual treaties.
